El Canal launches the 2027 Resident Companies Programme call
Through this call, El Canal will select up to six projects, which will be able to undertake a residency in the centre’s different spaces throughout 2027 and will receive an artistic co-production grant of €14,900 plus VAT, as well as technical support during the creation process. Applications are open from 2 to 16 June.
El Canal hosts Festival Z 2026 with residencies, open rehearsals and a professional session connecting young creation with the sector
From 8 to 11 July, Festival Z returns to Girona and Salt under the motto Slowly, slowly, good theatre. El Canal will be one of the central venues of this year’s edition, hosting the professional session Imminent Performing Futures! and three projects developed through creative residencies: De l’embolic al rastre, by Dolça Alcanyís and Laia Picas; RAMAT, by Oasi Teatre; and Punt i Ratlla, by Punt i Ratlla Teatre.
El Canal opens the call for the 2027 Espais de Creació Programme
The fourth edition of the programme will offer artistic and technical residencies to up to 15 companies and projects working in live arts, circus, dance and contemporary performing languages. Applications will be open from 16 to 30 May.

El Canal expands its partnership network with four new creation centres
In 2025, El Canal has signed four new agreements with creation centres both at home and abroad: La Grainerie (Balma, France), Convent de les Arts d’Alcover, C.IN.E. in Sineu (Mallorca), and Roca Umbert – Fàbrica de les Arts (Granollers).
El Canal companies at the strategic performing arts markets in Catalonia
This September, El Canal’s co-productions and residencies were present at FiraTàrrega —with Ponten Pie, Nyamnyam, Mambo Project, Llum de Fideu, NonsinTri and Fèmut— and will also be at Fira Mediterrània de Manresa this October, with Fèmut, the Capella Polifònica de Girona, Cia. Marc Fernández, La Baldufa, Juan Carlos Lérida and Magalí Sare.
Circus gains space and participation in Salt with the La Guixera project
La Guixera Espai de Circ, a joint initiative of the Girona Circus Professionals Collective, the Federation of Socio-Cultural Entities of Salt, and El Canal, has experienced a 2024-2025 season of consolidation, expansion, and stronger ties with the community.
