Performing arts creation needs time, space, resources and shared commitment. It also needs a network: places that connect with one another, teams that exchange knowledge and structures that allow artistic processes to grow with greater solidity, visibility and territorial grounding.
This is the spirit behind Crea en Xarxa, a new public support programme for performing arts creation, jointly promoted by Roca Umbert – Fàbrica de les Arts in Granollers, L’Estruch – Fàbrica de Creació de les Arts en Viu in Sabadell, Convent de les Arts in Alcover and El Canal – Centre de Creació d’Arts Escèniques in Salt, with the participation of the Directorate-General for Cultural Rights, Creation and Libraries of the Department of Culture of the Government of Catalonia.
In this first pilot edition, the project also involves FiraTàrrega and the Plataforma d’Arts de Carrer, two key agents in the support, visibility and circulation of performing arts projects across the territory.
For El Canal, taking part in Crea en Xarxa is another step in its commitment to strengthening ties with other creation spaces in Catalonia and contributing to a more cooperative, decentralised and connected cultural ecosystem. The programme places companies and creation processes at the centre, understanding artistic residencies not only as working time, but also as opportunities to open up questions, share research and build relationships with local communities.
A first pilot edition focused on street arts
The programme begins with Crea en Xarxa – Arts de Carrer, a call for professional companies developing a street arts project currently in creation, with a planned premiere in September 2027.
Street arts have a direct relationship with public space, citizens and territory. They are a particularly fertile field for scenic innovation, hybrid languages, participation and access to culture. This first call therefore aims to support projects that understand the street as a space for creation, encounter and shared imagination.
The call will select four projects, to be developed throughout 2026 and 2027. The selected companies will take part in a support programme including eight weeks of shared residency across the participating creation centres, with the possibility of extension depending on the specific needs of each process.
In addition to access to spaces, technical resources and logistical support, the programme offers artistic, technical and strategic guidance, external mentoring specialised in street arts, activities open to citizens and opportunities to connect with programmers and sector professionals.
Each selected project will receive €25,000 + VAT and/or subject to withholding tax. The projects will be publicly presented within the professional activities of FiraTàrrega 2026, may hold previews at festivals linked to the Plataforma d’Arts de Carrer, and will premiere within FiraTàrrega 2027.

Call open until 20 May
The call is addressed to professional street arts companies that are legally constituted, have their tax domicile in Catalonia, are developing a project in creation and have a track record of at least three premiered works.
Applications are open from 27 April to 20 May at 2 pm. The selected projects will be announced during the first half of June.
