Col·lectiu Casa Teatre, Insectotròpics, Cia. Las Kakofónikas and Cia. Carla Sisteré will develop their creative processes between 2026 and 2027 with the support of (or in collaboration with) the country’s four public creation centres.
Crea en Xarxa – Street Arts has announced the results of the first call of its pilot shared street arts residency programme, selecting four projects that will develop their creative processes between 2026 and 2027. The selected projects are Practicar l’impossible by Col·lectiu Casa Teatre, El temps suspès by Insectotròpics, Majorettes by Cia. Las Kakofónikas, and Territori Prohibit by Cia. Carla Sisteré.
Crea en Xarxa is a programme jointly promoted by the four public creation centres in Catalonia (Roca Umbert Fàbrica de les Arts, L’Estruch – Fàbrica de Creació de les Arts en Viu, Convent de les Arts and El Canal – Centre de Creació d’Arts Escèniques), with the participation of the Directorate-General for Cultural Rights, Creation and Libraries of the Department of Culture, and the collaboration, in this street arts pilot initiative, of FiraTàrrega and the Street Arts Platform (PAC).
The initiative was created to foster a shared model for supporting artistic creation by encouraging cooperation among cultural centres, the development of long-term creative processes, and the circulation of new productions. At the same time, it seeks to help consolidate a more diverse, decentralised and territorially connected cultural ecosystem, strengthening the links between creators, programmers, cultural professionals and citizens.
The programme begins with Crea en Xarxa – Street Arts, a pilot initiative focused on street arts, a key field of contemporary performing arts due to its direct relationship with public space, local communities and the territory.
The four selected projects
The selection sought to achieve a balance between disciplines, performing languages and artistic trajectories. The four projects share a commitment to exploring new ways of intervening in public space and establishing a direct relationship with local communities.
Practicar l’impossible, by Col·lectiu Casa Teatre, will transform a travelling railway carriage into an intimate performance space combining oral storytelling, visual theatre and object theatre to create a living archive of stories connected to the places it visits.
El temps suspès, by Insectotròpics, will present an immersive installation integrating visual arts, technology and public participation to reflect on the perception of time, the landscape, and the relationship between people and their environment.
Majorettes, by Cia. Las Kakofónikas, will transform public space into a festive and chaotic parade starring four former majorettes who reunite thirty years later. Combining physical comedy, clowning and music, the project celebrates the visibility of mature women while turning the town square into a space for play, celebration and collective participation.
Territori Prohibit, by Cia. Carla Sisteré, will develop a contemporary dance piece featuring two performers and a motorcycle, questioning the presence of female bodies in spaces traditionally associated with masculinity.
Throughout the programme, the four artistic teams will undertake a residency programme across the four creation centres, with a minimum of eight weeks of work distributed throughout the creative process and extendable according to the needs of each project.
Each project will receive funding of €25,000, together with support from the centres’ teams, specialised artistic mentoring in street arts, technical and logistical resources, community engagement activities, and opportunities to meet programmers and professionals from the sector.
The programme schedule includes a first presentation of the projects at FiraTàrrega 2026 (10 September), with the possibility of presenting preview performances at festivals linked to the Street Arts Platform (PAC) during 2027, before their official premiere at FiraTàrrega 2027.
