La Banda Artistic Association

The Artistic Association La Banda is a company that was born in 2007 in Barcelona but since 2014 its members reside in Sant Martí Vell, in Girona. La Banda is a meeting point for theater professionals for the exchange of ideas and experiences that serve as a bridge and passport for the materialization and realization of different projects within the performing arts. The company’s diversity of languages and audiences aims to accommodate diverse and unique stories. The members of La Banda identify with the word, the gesture, the poetics of the objects, the new technologies and the music.

Among their projects, stand out La Paradise Band by Cristina Clemente and Mercè Vila Godoy in the cycle of open rehearsals at the Teatre Lliure, Somni (a free adaptation from William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream) by Mercè Vila Godoy at La Seca Espai Brossa, Pablo Messiez’s Muda in the Grec Festival at Teatre Akadèmia and El meravellós viatge de la Lea by Mercè Vila Godoy and Gloria Sirvent in the Temporada Alta Festival. This last show consolidates the group as a company that seeks to approach the performing arts by accommodating all kinds of audiences. Two years ago, La Banda won the Ajuts Girona Kreas grant promoted by the Girona City Council, with La recreació de la creació, an artistic creation project linked to the performing arts as a cohesion between education and culture.

Hola, ràbia!

Residency January and February 2024

A knot in the stomach, fire in the body and an explosion that runs through us inside and out. We shout, we cry, we say slogans, we feel like punching and kicking or running away. It’s Rage. We don’t like it when it comes to visit, but it is inevitable and will continue to do so throughout our lives. So maybe we’ll get to know her a little better, shall we? Said and done! Welcome, creatures from everywhere! We invite you to the fascinating universe of the Rage. We are traveling the world to make this mysterious being known. We will enter its habitat and try to make it come out of its hiding place.

A space to look at rage head-on and up close, experiencing some of its aspects from the game. A participatory experience about what anger is, how it makes us feel and why. Here you will have the opportunity to meet her up close and say without fear: “Hello, Rage!”
