Mal Pelo Company

Mal Pelo, with the artistic co-direction of Pep Ramis and María Muñoz, is a stage creation group characterized by a shared authorship that has resulted in more than thirty shows so far. Since 1989, Mal Pelo has developed its own artistic language through movement and the creation of dramaturgies that include text, original soundtracks, live music, the construction of scenographic spaces, light and video among other scenic tools.

María Muñoz and Pep Ramis have found in the scene and the creation of shows a place to deposit the need to experience, ask and share the issues that are vital in their career.

Shared creation is one of the differentiating and characteristic elements of the group. Throughout its career, Mal Pelo has been able to collaborate with different artists and projects such as John Berger, Erri de Luca, Lisa Nelson, Àngels Margarit, Steve Noble, Nuria Font, Steve Paxton, Eduard Fernández, Andrés Corchero, Toni Serra , Lilo Baur, Cesc Gelabert, Faustin Linyekula, Raffaella Giordano, Baro D’Evel, Leonor Leal, Marta Izquierdo among many others.

Double Infinite. The Bluebird Call

Residency May 2023

The Mal Pelo Company has stayed at El Canal in residence for the creation of its new show Double Infinite. The Bluebird Call, a duet by Pep Ramis and María Muñoz that returns to an intimate format. It is a piece made from fragility, simplicity and love for a craft that continues to question identity, the individual, the group or the body, the great revealer of one’s powers.

Two people close to the age of sixty find themselves willing to wonder about what remains to be imagined and propose a sensitive journey through the doubts about how we build our lives, our relationships and our place. The project contemplates the need to imagine and pursue impossible realities, to build a fiction that demonstrates the importance of inventing the future, to project it beyond what is predictable.

In their artistic career, Ramis and Muñoz have worked with different collaborators and artists. In Double Infinite. The Bluebird Call the company continues to make creation a shared process with collaborators such as Leo Castro (collaboration in direction and video), Fanny Thollot (sound composition), Carme Puigdevall i Plantés (costumes), or August Viladomat and Lluís Martí (lighting), among others.

Double Infinite. The Bluebird Call is a co-production of the Théâtre de la Ville de Paris, Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, GREC Festival de Barcelona, Teatre Principal de Palma de Mallorca and Temporada Alta. With the support of Théâtre Garonne de Toulouse, Festival de Otoño de Madrid and L’Animal a l’Esquena de Celrà.
