After closing the deadline for submission of applications last December 12, El Canal has made public the winning projects of the Resident Companies Program. Among the 78 projects presented in the call, eight of them have been selected. The commission highlighted the high quality of the projects presented. Among them, we find consolidated companies, as well as projects linked to the world of circus, movement and music, among others. With this program, El Canal emphasizes the commitment to continue working to give maximum support to productions and host them with the quality they deserve.
Among the eight selected projects we find consolidated companies such as Cabosanroque with its project El castor que plorava, Societat Doctor Alonso with Hospital de campo or Monte Isla with the project Un cos sense talent. We also find projects from the world of circus such as QOROQ by Kolektiv Lapso Cirk, and movement and music such as Prosopopeia, by La Bella Otero. Finally, this program also includes the company Chez l’Amour with Un xai ha creuat el desert, KEBO (mapa de la pell d’un cos), by the company Vero Cendoya, and Teatre de l’Aurora with Sí sí sí.
With the eight selected projects, an artistic co-production contract will be established with which the selected companies will undertake to carry out three mediation actions aimed at the public in the form of open rehearsals, talks, workshops, among others. They will be actions that will be developed around the creation and aimed at the community of Salt and Girona.
Of the applications submitted, a series of assessment criteria have been taken into account such as the artistic interest of the project, its feasibility, the quality of the mediation actions proposed, the link between the company’s components and cultural life Saltenca and Girona and the use of the Catalan language.
The Resident Companies Program is one of the programs offered by El Canal aimed at professionals, artists, local, national and international performing arts companies and groups with performing arts projects in the production phase. The program, in a competitive competition regime, will offer the selected companies, co-production by the center for the development of the project, hosting in artistic residence in the spaces of El Canal during this 2024 and technical support in the process of creation during the stay at the center.
