Canal de Salt has published the resolution of the second edition of the competition to host companies in residence in its spaces. This is the Resident Companies Program, aimed at professionals, artists, companies and collectives of the local, national and international performing arts with performing arts projects in the production phase.
The Resident Companies Program will host six projects for the period from December this year until December 2025. Of the 46 applications submitted, a series of assessment criteria have been taken into account such as the artistic interest of the project, the feasibility of the project, the quality of the mediation actions proposed, the connection of the company’s components with the cultural life of Salta and Girona and the use of the Catalan language.
Among the six selected projects we find circus companies such as the “eia” Circus Company with its Secrets project, the visual and community theater of Mambo Project with Jovent or Nyamnyam with the Cinematic project. We also find the text theater, dance and choreography of Los Detectives with Les Chevaliers and the proposal Tallem! which combines visual theater and cinema from the company Llum de fideu. Finally, Aurora Bauzà & Pere Jou also enter this program with LOBO, a show halfway between dance, music and light research.
The Resident Companies Program, in a competitive competition regime, offers the selected projects co-production for the development of the show, hosting the company in artistic residency in the various spaces of El Canal during 2025 and technical support in the process of creation during the stay at the center.
An artistic co-production contract has been established with the selected projects with an amount of 14,900 euros plus VAT. With this contract, the selected companies undertake to carry out three actions aimed at the public, in the form of an open rehearsal, talks, workshops, among others. They will be actions developed around creation and aimed at the community so that citizens discover art and creativity based on various artistic languages.
The 46 projects presented have been evaluated by a technical and artistic committee made up of eight professionals from national and international creative centers, theaters and festivals. The commission highlighted the high quality of the projects presented. Among them, we find consolidated companies, as well as projects linked to the world of performing arts, circus, movement and music, among others. With this program, El Canal continues to value the commitment to continue working to give the maximum support to productions, welcome them with the quality they deserve and link them to the community and the public.
