The Black Music Big Band, as part of the Black Music Festival 2025 (BMF) program, will offer a special Soul and Funk concert aimed at high school students. This educational and cultural proposal aims to bring African-American musical styles closer to young people, highlighting the tradition and influence of Black Music in modern music.

The concert will also feature the collaboration of middle school students from ETECAM, the Salt Technical School of Entertainment, who will be in charge of technical production in areas such as sound, lighting and audiovisual projections.

A lesson in music and history

Black Music, also known as Afro-American music, has its origins in the spiritual songs and worksongs of African slaves who worked in the cotton fields. This tradition, which has evolved over more than 150 years, has given rise to such influential styles as blues, gospel, rock, soul, funk, R&B and rap.

Students will discover how this music has become not only a pillar of modern music, but also a key element of social revolution, from its beginnings to the present day. The concert is designed as an immersive experience that combines live music and a pedagogical journey to understand the importance of Black Music in popular culture.
