El Canal’s director, Xavi Díaz

On January 20, the presentation of the new project of El Canal – Center for the Creation of Performing Arts was held. The media and the group of professionals from the Catalan performing arts sector had been invited to the event. The presentation was led by Xavier Díaz, director of El Canal, accompanied by Jordi Viñas, mayor of Salt, Joaquim Ayats, vice-mayor of Girona, Albert Piñeira, vice-president responsible for the Cultural Area of Girona, and Jordi Foz, secretary general of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

Xavier Díaz presented the new image of El Canal and the foundations of the project to make it clear that the facility is entering a new stage and taking a new direction to become a center of reference in Salt, Girona and Catalunya in the creation and production of living arts with a conscious look at the local art scene. From now on, El Canal wants to be a meeting place for the professional group and an open space for all citizens who love performing arts and culture. “It’s not just a project for Salt, but also national and important for the whole country,” said the mayor of Salt.

The presentation was illustrated live by the cartoonist Maria Calvet. After all the parliaments, the event ended with refreshments in the El Canal hall.
