Las Chicas del Barro Company

Formed by Irene Fernàndez and Tanit Mora, Las Chicas del Barro is a company that seeks above all to raise awareness about the way we look at our bodies and the bodies of others. For this reason, the company works from two disciplines: performing arts (theatre, dance and circus) and social action (experiential workshops).

Irene Fernàndez (Alicante, 1988) graduated in Social Education from the University of Salamanca and has always shown an interest in the world of art, dance, music and illustration. She combines her work as an educator, where she specializes in mental health, functional diversity, women’s protection and child protection, with her training in theatre, circus and performing arts. In 2014 she graduated from the CAU circus and theater school in Granada and began working with several companies.

Tanit Mora (Barcelona, 1991) began her academic career studying Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona and combined it with Psychology studies at the Ramon Llull University and the Master’s in Therapeutic Theater at the Gestalt Institute. Later, she trained in Contemporary Circus at the Rogelio Rivel Circus Arts Center and in Dance and Movement at different schools and with different creators such as Nunart, Deltebre Dansa, TicTac Center, Área Espai de Dansa i Creació, Escuela en Danza and Multimedia (ESDM), among others. Currently, she is dedicated to artistic research in the performing arts, to the creation of shows and to teaching dance, circus and emotional well-being workshops.

Cos(i)ficades

Residency January 2023

Cos(i)ficades is a space to reflect on the bodies we inhabit. Bodies that are given to us, that we did not choose and with which we are committed to live a lifetime. It’s a show that uses mud, circus, dance, theatre, live music and humor to transport us to a universe where we can talk about the body without taboos.

Through humor, reflection and movement, the stage proposal seeks to bring the public through a safe space where they can reflect on the body in a sincere way. A space to ask yourself: do I know my body? How do I live inside this body? Do I love my body? Do I judge it?

The original idea came from the two members of the company, Irene Fernàndez and Tanit Mora, also directors and performers of the work. Sara Valls was responsible for the costumes, Joan Camatcho for the scenography, Lluis Casahuga for the music and sound production and Javier Monsalve and Clara Pedrol for the photography. Toni Muñoz and Ilona Muñoz have been the external eyes of the play and Tanit Mora has led the executive production of the show.
