On Sunday 18th December 2022, on the occasion of the 31st edition of TV3’s La Marató, El Canal hosted a performance by the Girona band Black Music Big Band. The concert was open to all audiences and the proceeds raised were destined for La Marató of last December dedicated to cardiovascular diseases. It is not the first time that the Black Music Big Band participates in La Marató, in the 2020 edition it was one of the groups participating in the album with the song “Jo vull ballar per la vida”.
The following week, a few days before Christmas, it was the turn of the Black Music Big Band Junior, a musical group made up of boys and girls from music schools in Girona, with a concert organized by the 600 students of the high school jump
The Black Music Big Band is the first formative big band focused on soul and funk styles. It was created six years ago in the regions of Girona and is made up of thirty musicians aged between 16 and 25, with the musical direction of Adrià Bauzó and Nuri Mancebo on the vocal part. Its younger sister is the Black Music Big Band Junior, made up of boys and girls aged 9 to 15 and also directed by Adrià Bauzó. It is an educational project of the Fundació Casa de la Música de les Comarques Gironines and the Black Music Festival.
