The Z Festival is in its third edition this year and, once again, El Canal collaborates with the festival to continue working on the task of supporting, in this case, the emerging creations of young people under 30 years old.

The Z Festival is already positioned as Girona’s live arts show aimed at the viewer and the young creator. Created in 2021, it is a project conceived as a live arts accompaniment platform for shows created by and for young people, paying special attention to Girona’s creation. This year, El Canal welcomes two companies in artistic residence: the company Malsai Produccions to work on their play Calla, Judit, Calla, and the artist Oriol Borràs with his new project Proxima Centauri. On the other hand, during the days of the festival, El Canal will host many of the scheduled activities, from shows, to debate circles and community breakfasts. You will find all the information in our agenda and on the festival website.

El Canal and the Z Festival agree in this desire to improve the working conditions and professionalization of the performing arts sector and the creation of young people in the Girona regions. At this point rests the collaboration between the two, which goes through the desire to promote the emerging creation of young people under 30 years old. El Canal collaborates by ceding its creative spaces to the festival companies so that they can hold artistic residencies, providing financial and technical support and offering exhibition spaces for the days of the festival.

The Z Festival is a project conceived as a contribution to the Girona cultural ecosystem, a platform for accompanying and promoting scenic materials produced in Catalonia, paying special attention to those generated in the province of Girona. It is also conceived as a space for professional dialogue that encourages reflection on young creation and that was born with the desire to contribute to the visibility and professionalization of stage creators under 30 years old and residents of Catalonia.
