El Canal – Centre for Performing Arts in Salt/Girona and C.IN.E. – Centre for Scenic Research in Sineu have signed a collaboration agreement to promote performing arts creation and encourage exchange among artists from Catalan-speaking territories.

This new partnership stems from a shared commitment to support sector professionalisation, build alliances, and share resources and experiences between creation centres in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands.

As a first joint project, an artistic residency exchange has been launched between the centres’ respective programmes. Balearic artist Maria Antònia Roig has been selected through a call co-organised by C.IN.E., Teatre Principal de Palma and El Canal, and will carry out a joint residency between Sineu and Salt with her piece Cordada, a work of contemporary circus.

From El Canal, creator Alexandre Duran Davins, participant in the 2025 Espais de Creació programme, will travel to C.IN.E. to develop the project INSULA, a piece that explores mental health and imbalance through a circus language.

This exchange marks the first step in a collaboration aiming to strengthen artistic and cultural ties between Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, and to continue opening up space for contemporary creation through diverse stage languages.
