nyamnyam
Ariadna Rodríguez and Iñaki Álvarez are nyamnyam. Combining their backgrounds and “un-trainings” in various disciplines, their work aims to promote creation, diffraction, and the exchange of knowledge through strategies of interaction in each (g)local context in which they operate. At the intersection of live arts, visual arts, critical thinking, and pedagogies, nyamnyam’s work oscillates between project creation and curatorship—understood as a transdisciplinary space of connection and disruption, in friction with the standardized view of culture as a commodity.
They have developed a range of theatrical pieces presented at international festivals such as Festival Les Urbaines in Lausanne, Switzerland; Radical Hospitality Festival at Blackbox Teater in Oslo, Norway; MIR Festival in Athens, Greece; Danza en la Ciudad in Bogotá, Colombia; SALIVA cycle at CentroCentro in Madrid; Short Theatre Festival in Rome, Italy; or ZOOM IN! Festival at Duncan Dance Research Center in Athens, Greece, among others.
They have carried out and shared their projects across Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Switzerland, Norway, Greece, the United States, Mexico, Colombia, and Ecuador.
After eight years of activity at their space in Barcelona, in 2020 they opened Espai nyamnyam in the small village of Mieres (Girona)—a cultural cooperative focused on contemporary artistic practice within the framework of degrowth.
Their projects have been supported by Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) through its Programme for the Internationalization of Spanish Culture (PICE), by the Government of Catalonia (ICEC and OSIC), by Creative Europe (European Union), and by the Institut Ramon Llull (Catalonia).

Cinemática is an archaeological piece that speculates on trades and activities that we can no longer remember or perhaps do not yet exist. A performance installation that focuses on the genealogy of movement(s) from perspectives that incorporate the choreographic, spatial, musical, relational, social, and supernatural.
Cinemática is also “a remarkable synthesis of the movements of work and everyday life,” a theory developed by Raymond Duncan, brother of the dancer Isadora Duncan, at the beginning of the 20th century. From a critical, non-epistemological approach, a long-term search has been developed to redefine this legacy.
Cinemática is an intermediary space between audience and performers where the installation takes shape through speculative fiction, live music, poetry, and dance.
Cinemática is a project that operates through language and oral storytelling, generating a poetic narrative that interweaves three journeys separated in time and space. It exists at the intersection between the installative and the performative, taking shape through experimental music, video, storytelling, dance, and live arts. As with all nyamnyam’s work, the piece is framed within contemporary artistic practice and features the participation of artists Rosanayaris Dani Moreno Roldán, Estel Boada, Katerina Andreou, Manel Quintana, Iñaki Álvarez, and Ariadna Rodríguez from nyamnyam.
Cinemática is part of the 2023-2026 triennium of nyamnyam as a dance company within the ICEC (Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies, Generalitat de Catalunya). With this triennium approved, the project is already supported by the Centre Chorégraphique National de Montpellier (FR), Central Elétrica de Oporto (PT), La Mutant (Valencia), and La Seca (Fundació Brossa, Barcelona), and is scheduled to premiere in Catalonia at Fira Tàrrega 2025 (CAT).
