Maria Jover and Gerard Franch
Maria Jover and Gerard Franch have formed an artistic and creative duo since 2022.
Both trained in acting at the Institut del Teatre and met in 2018 at Prima del Teatro in San Miniato (Italy), within the international project of the Scuola Europea per l’Arte dell’Attore.
This is how Berenguera, their first piece, came into being, created with the support of artificial intelligence models to explore the figure of Berenguera de Vilamur, a supposed medieval Occitan trobairitz, and to question the truthfulness of the stories and the languages that sustain them.
The work premiered at Fira Mediterrània 2023 and continues to tour in Catalonia and France.
The duo has also premiered Els Pastorets de la Mercè at the MAC Festival in Barcelona (2025) and is currently working on their new project Un mal normal, in collaboration with Projecte Aina at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center — Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS).

Un mal normal explores the relationship between artificial intelligence, totalitarian thought and the banality of evil. Building on the dialogue between art and technology —in collaboration with Projecte Aina (BSC-CNS)—, the piece reflects on how automated systems can reproduce patterns of power, uniformity and the erosion of critical thinking.
Drawing inspiration from the ideas of Hannah Arendt and contemporary popular culture, the performance combines theatre, discourse and speculative fiction to construct a narrative about a near, grotesque future where technology, disinformation and banality coexist under a veneer of normality.
