Los Detectives
Los Detectives is a company founded in 2016 in Barcelona, led by Mariona Naudin and María García Vera. Their projects explore the possibilities and limits of performance in order to create a unique language.
Coming from diverse disciplines—ranging from anthropology to film and fine arts—Naudin and García Vera combine their interests in expanding and overflowing the boundaries of stage language. They are driven by the desire to connect humor, the body, and thought, delving into estrangement strategies that aim to engage the audience’s intelligence and challenge the performers’ abilities.
To date, they have premiered three stage productions:
- Kopfkino (Mercat de les Flors, Barcelona, 2016)
- Pienso casa, digo silla (Festival Grec, Barcelona, 2019)
- Concrete Matter (Danza Metropolitana, Barcelona, 2022)
These works have been co-produced by Antic Teatre. Throughout their creative processes, they have received artistic support from El Graner and La Caldera (Barcelona).
For this project, they are joined by dancer and choreographer Sofía Asencio, co-director of the Sociedad Doctor Alonso company alongside Tomás Aragay. Asencio has contributed to all of Los Detectives’ creations as an external eye, dramaturg, or advisor. In this fourth stage project, she takes on the role of performer and director.

Contemporary knights embark on an endless quest for the Holy Grail. Like Perceval, these lost and disoriented beings try but fail, yet they throw themselves into the search without hesitation. The essential question in all of this is: when someone searches, what are they really searching for?
The true value of the Grail quest lies in the pursuit of the impossible, revealing an apparently unproductive act that, in reality, becomes the raison d’être of the adventure. Los Detectives embark on their fourth project, exploring the world of medieval knights and the conquest of the Holy Grail through a detective series where private investigators search for the Grail in different contexts. At La Mutant, they present Chapter 1, The Question or the Turning Wheel, in which three detectives search for the mysterious cup from their office, following clues and using interrogation and questioning as their main investigative tools.
Humor runs throughout the piece, born from the clash between these not-so-clever characters and the profound significance of the case they investigate. They work under the premise that those who truly belong to their time are the ones who don’t entirely fit into it or conform to its expectations. And it is precisely this condition—this kind of disconnection—that makes them more capable than anyone else of perceiving and capturing their own time.
Through this anachronism, Los Detectives invite us to reflect on the immediate present, a time defined by an incessant search for one’s own image and that of others.
