Empordà Mar creates performances with a strong artistic identity. Visual poetry, clowning and physical theatre intertwine with a critical yet delicate gaze at the world we inhabit. The company is committed to original creation, with a high level of aesthetic rigour and a transformative vocation.
Theatre becomes a tool for reconnecting with nature, especially the oceans, and for awakening awareness through humour and emotion. Their creative processes are nourished by artistic residencies, dialogue with the local context, and a constant openness to other visual and sonic languages.
The educational project — with workshops and pedagogical materials — is a key pillar that reinforces the community and awareness-raising dimension of each performance. They believe in a living, committed and accessible theatre, capable of sowing questions and sparking curious ways of looking at the world.
La Tempestat dels oceans
Residency January 2026
In a forgotten corner of a collapsing ocean, three beings inhabit a fragile island: Pròsper, a clown obsessed with control; Miranda, a voice that sings the memories of the sea; and Calibà, an insurgent body fighting for the lost balance. La Tempestat de l’Oceà dives into this symbolic microcosm to speak to us, in a universal language made of gesture, rhythm and visual poetry, about the broken relationship between humankind and the blue planet.
The performance combines physical theatre, clowning and live music with a scenography loaded with symbolism. From a free dramaturgy, we build an innovative stage proposal with a transformative drive and an aesthetic sensitivity that connects with the major sustainability frameworks of the 21st century.
In collaboration with several environmental organisations, the project goes beyond the stage performance and adds actions of scientific outreach, environmental awareness and community participation. La Tempestat de l’Oceà aims to be a tool for awareness and a catalyst for hope.
