Cultura i conflicte
Cultura i Conflicte is a multidisciplinary team of professionals that understands culture as a driver of dialogue and reflection, and as a tool for social transformation. Their work unfolds across the fields of performing arts, audiovisual creation, photography and journalism, through a process of collective research that seeks to provide context, generate new questions and open up perspectives on a reality that is always multifaceted and diverse. Their practice combines journalistic research and artistic creation with the aim of presenting documentary work through different languages, reaching diverse audiences, and also activating educational and community-based interventions in the form of talks, post-show discussions and workshops.
The collective’s trajectory has been deeply marked by projects such as Encara hi ha algú al bosc, a multidisciplinary work based on the real testimonies of survivors of mass rape during the Balkan War and of the sons and daughters born from forced pregnancies. The project took theatrical, documentary and photographic installation forms, and toured venues such as Temporada Alta, the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, the Teatro de la Abadía, Sarajevo, Zagreb and Ljubljana, receiving recognitions such as the 2021 Critics’ Award for Best Dramaturgy and several international awards for the documentary. Another of their outstanding projects is Moriu-vos, a piece about ageism and the way society treats old age, premiered at Temporada Alta and the TNC, and awarded Best Hybrid Stage Production at the Premis Teatre Barcelona 2023.
No miris
Residence July 2026
They now arrive at El Canal with No miris, a new stage work built as a fiction grounded in documentary material. On stage appears a gallery of characters shaped by the boundaries of political commitment, betrayal, love, guilt and silence. Pep Cruz embodies evil and the construction of violence; Marta Marco plays Camila, the daughter who loves a father rejected by those around him, and also Verónica; and Erol Ileri, in the role of documentarian, becomes trapped in a thriller about the grey areas of the human condition.
The story focuses on the silences experienced within the family of Verónica Estay Stange, daughter of people persecuted by the Chilean dictatorship and niece of Miguel Estay, one of the major repressors of Pinochet’s regime. The plot follows Verónica’s determination to put words to those silences, uncover the multiple versions of events and understand the pain that divided her family. Through theatrical language, the project attempts to convey what is unspeakable and to explore how memory, trauma and love can coexist with monstrosity.
From this specific story, No miris opens up a broader reflection on the fragility of democracies and on how easily any society can become accustomed to violations of fundamental rights in the name of security, or even freedom. The project stems from the need to explore grey areas in order to measure our own complicity with horror and to remember that the line between good and evil does not run between countries, parties or classes, but within human hearts.

Formally, the staging follows Cultura i Conflicte’s characteristic style: a form of writing that grounds the dramaturgy in experimentation and in the interplay between different languages —sound, music, gesture and visual composition— in order to build a hybrid stage language. This combination of documentary layers and theatrical resources also extends into parallel formats, such as the podcast series La mala memòria. Àlbum sonor contra l’oblit, where the team shares part of the documentary research carried out for the piece.
The residency at El Canal will take place from 29 June to 6 July 2026 and will include rehearsals and a technical residency, with particular attention to experimentation in the combination of languages. According to the dossier timeline, the piece is in the final stage of creation, with a preview at the Teatre de l’Aurora in June 2026, its premiere at the Grec Festival / Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona in July 2026, and a later run at La Perla 29 / Biblioteca de Catalunya, before a Catalan and Spanish tour and a future run at Madrid’s Teatro de la Abadía.
