Engendro Posmoderno
Engendro Posmoderno is a Girona-based collective founded in 2022, made up of two creators, Paula Benito Coderch and Laura Gómez Muñoz, and one producer, Júlia Isern Barrio, along with all the people who support and collaborate with them. They understand Engendro Posmoderno as their form of cultural militancy.
From the beginning, they have focused on artistic creation and research, promoting the temporal expansion of creative processes. Their first project, Una putrefacción hecha necrosis (A putrefaction turned necrosis), explored gender and the frustration of not understanding it. Their second creation, yo te condeno, fea (I condemn you, ugly), is based on the premise of the structural violence of beauty.
Hybrid stage languages and performance are the tools they use to bring their research to life. Their methodology is rooted in the massive creation and collection of materials, later interconnected like a web.
Yo te condeno, fea
Residence September 2025
yo te condeno, fea is a hybrid stage and performance project that highlights the collective exploration of beauty.
According to SECPRE (Spanish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery), “in Spain, the total number of aesthetic surgery procedures in 2021 rose to 204,510, a 215% increase compared to […] 2013 data.”
In this new creation, Engendro Posmoderno explores topics such as the evolution of beauty standards, what defines trends; pretty privilege; the rituals that shape the performance of beauty; the desire for eternal youth; and the obsession with aesthetic medicine.
Not beautiful enough to be beautiful, not ugly enough to be ugly, they are in a dead-end alley. They have failed. And their work is an ode to failure. They are the failure. And in loss, they’ve found the pleasure of the question mark.
