Susanna Barranco company

Cia. Susanna Barranco (producer)

Susanna Barranco creates from the gut, leaping into the void in order to reach the depths of each project. The visual and narrative force of her work characterises both her creations and her performances as an actress. She lives her profession as an ongoing search and a constant relationship with the world she moves through, as a woman, taking risks with determination in every creative process. For her, creation becomes a tool for understanding reality, a methodological scalpel with which she dissects her own inner world and that of others. Her work is always intimate and profound, with a seductive force that is aesthetically captivating and at the same time intensely reflective.

A stage and audiovisual director and creator, actress and writer, she founded the company that bears her name, Cia. Susanna Barranco, in 1999. In recent years, the company has created and produced several original pieces, including V7: l’art de silenciar (2024); Red Room, co-directed by Susanna Barranco and Sol Picó (2019–2022); and Accions de Resistència, winner of the *BBVA Theatre Prize 2020, among others. Co-productions also include Forasters vindràn…, with Marta Galán (Teatre Lliure, 2021).

Un huracà avança alegrement

Residency March 2026

A hurricane moves forward joyfully and invites us on a journey where fragility and strength coexist. The protagonist, Jonc, is a young man with functional diversity who is taking part in the most important audition of his life while exploring the ideas of desire and identity. The director watches him and guides him through this first journey. He lives in order to love. No one knows what a body can do until they discover the effects of what it is capable of.

The piece becomes a reflection on desire as an act of affirmation, resistance and freedom. Accompanied by music, Jonc travels through his emotions and memories, following the yellow tiles that symbolise his path towards expressing his desire from his own intimacy, identity and autonomy. Along this journey, Jonc’s voice is joined by others who have already walked the same path; their experiences become a dialogue that questions, reaffirms and supports the existential questions that arise when it comes to desiring and living in today’s world with a 75% intellectual disability.
