Contracants: records de la darrera carlinada

    Residence september 2025

Contracants brings to the stage the landscapes and memories of Marian Vayreda (Olot, 1853–1903) from the final Carlist war, through the character of el Valencianet, the alter ego of the writer and painter from Olot.

The performance is built upon a dramaturgy for an actress based on Vayreda’s texts, and music composed for choir and a small instrumental ensemble.

The musical core of the piece is Catalan traditional song, reimagined in new arrangements and instrumental interludes by Martí Ferrer, director of the Capella Polifònica de Girona.
