Ambae Company

Ambae Company is a joint artistic project founded in 2019 by Belgian dancer and choreographer Arina Lannoo and musician and composer Tito Ripoll. United by a shared desire to explore human and social themes, they intertwine dance, live music and scenography to create a distinctive language that moves across disciplines and formats.

Since the beginning, the company has developed a line of work focused on contemporary social issues, through a collaborative practice that seeks to broaden the understanding of human experience from the stage. Their first creation, Connection, premiered at Dansa Metropolitana in 2021. It was followed by We all live in a box, which premiered at Portugal’s Festival Mais Imaginarius in 2022 and was later presented in circuits and festivals in Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands and Belgium. Their latest creation, La veu de les (d)ones, premiered in 2024 at the Teatre Auditori de Llinars del Vallès.

Alongside its stage creations, Ambae Company has also developed the workshop (Sense) Límit, a complementary activity designed for all ages with the aim of establishing a closer dialogue with audiences. This desire to open up new spaces for encounter and to broaden the reach of their work also lies at the heart of the new project they now present at El Canal.

Imagiro

Residence April 2026

With Imagiro, the company opens up a new direction in its trajectory: a piece created especially for family audiences, co-created with dancer and choreographer Laura Marsal. The project is inspired by the art of origami and by the game of building from triangular geometric shapes. A sheet of paper becomes a figure, three pieces can turn into a mountain or a bird, and a single movement can give rise to a whole new world.

Through movement, music and the transformation of objects, Imagiro explores how ideas take shape and how creativity can emerge from the simple act of trying, undoing, starting again or making mistakes. The piece is a celebration of curiosity and transformation: an invitation to look with different eyes and discover that every mistake can open up a new fold, a new possibility, a new way of creating.

The proposal retains some of Ambae Company’s defining features —the close relationship between body, space and live music— but places them at the service of a more playful, visual and accessible stage universe aimed at children and families. During the residency at El Canal, the company enters the final phase of the creative process: they will work on fine-tuning the music, refining the movement material and balancing the overall flow of the piece. The residency will also make it possible to test a combination of showing and workshop, an experience that will help shape the final adjustments before the premiere.

Imagiro is a piece selected within the EKO – Pyrenees of Circus Programme.
