The La Guixera Circus Space, a joint initiative of the Girona Circus Professionals Collective, the Federation of Socio-Cultural Entities of Salt, and El Canal, has experienced a 2024-2025 season of consolidation, expansion, and stronger community ties. This circus school —an ambitious project that aims to make Salt a benchmark in circus training— has offered a wide-ranging program for children, young people, adults, and professionals, while working to connect circus with the everyday life of the city.
A record-breaking year: more programs, more people, more presence
The Circus School has offered 15 regular courses for different ages and levels, with an average of 140 students, representing a 27% increase compared to the previous year.
The permanent teaching team has been made up of 10 professionals, ensuring continuity and quality throughout the project.
The end-of-year showcase and participation in the Festival Inevitable highlighted the commitment and artistic level of the participating groups.
Family circus and specialized workshops
The Family Circus program has brought circus arts to public squares and streets, reaching over 600 participants of all ages. This free and open activity has become an effective way to bring circus closer to the broader community and foster intergenerational connections.
At the same time, the intensive workshops have served as a driving force to connect with professionals from around the world, offering training in disciplines such as hand-to-hand acrobatics, clowning, aerial silks, and the Chinese pole, contributing to the artistic enrichment of the project.
A school with two faces: community and professional
La Guixera is not only a school for non-professional circus enthusiasts, but also provides a dedicated training space for professional artists. Currently located in the Guixeres Warehouses —with the aim of moving to Warehouse 2— the school functions as a place of support, rehearsals, and encounters for circus companies across the territory.
This dual approach —educational and professional, community-based and artistically generative— makes La Guixera a strategic project for the cultural fabric of the Gironès region.
Places still available!
The new season is already underway, and there are still places available in several courses and workshops. If you are interested in discovering the world of circus, developing new skills, or becoming part of a community project, this is your place.
