Kairo is a captivating show created by Senegalese artist Momi Maiga, which combines the richness of the musical tradition of West Africa with modern influences of jazz, flamenco and classical music. The number “Kairo”, which means “peace” in Mandinka, reflects the intention of the ensemble of the show.
Through her virtuoso skill with the kora, a traditional West African instrument of 22 strings, Momi Maiga guides the audience on a sound journey that celebrates diversity and unity. The show presents original compositions that move between soft melodies and energetic rhythms, creating an immersive and exciting atmosphere.
Accompanied by violin, cello, drums, percussion and voices, Kairo is something more than a concert; is a cultural experience that combines past and present, tradition and modernity, in a vibrant and inspiring musical dialogue between cultures.
The open rehearsal with Momi Maiga is an exceptional opportunity to see how a professional concert is prepared. Attendees will be able to witness the working process of the artist and his band, observing how the musical, technical and scenic details are adjusted to create a cohesive performance. This event offers an exclusive look behind the scenes, allowing viewers to appreciate the dedication and effort involved in producing a live show.
