We have already resolved the call for the Creative Spaces Program with a total of thirty admitted companies out of a total of forty-five applications submitted. The projects that will benefit from this program will take up residence in El Canal between this November and December 2024.

Of the admitted projects, the great variety of artistic disciplines they present stands out. The proposals range from text and gesture theatre, to circus, acrobatics and clown theatre, through music, contemporary dance and audiovisual installation, among others.

To make the selection, the jury assessed the artistic interest of the proposals, the solvency of the creative team, the structure and support of the project, the relationship of the proposal with the values of El Canal, the bond between the artists with Salt and Girona and the use of the Catalan language.

The Creative Spaces Program, which opened its call last July 15, offers the possibility of short artistic and technical stays in the different spaces of the facility with technical support. The selected companies will be able to develop their live arts projects until December 2024. This is the first call that El Canal opens in the new stage that was presented last January to take a new direction as a space for creation and promotion of the living arts of the territory.

The jury for this call has been formed by Arnau Olivé, technical coordinator of El Canal, Laia Alzueta, cultural manager and coordinator of the residences of El Canal, Laura Pujol, cultural worker and coordinator of the mediation program of El Canal , the director of performing arts at the Girona City Council Elena Carmona, the director of the creation center Nau Ivanow David Marín, the coordinator of the Degree in Performing Arts of the ERAM-UdG and director of the Festival Z Jordi Duran and the director and manager of El Canal Xavier Díaz.

The Creation Spaces Program is designed to hold stays for specific uses, such as initial meetings, technical residencies or artistic residencies for projects that have been released or are about to be released. In addition, it offers logistical and space support and technical support and allows for short stays in El Canal, between one and two weeks.
